About us
The Regiment von Riedesel is a living history group portraying musketeers from Braunschweig who served in General Riedesel’s Leib Kompanie during the American Revolution. We attend events all throughout the Mid-West United States, and are a 501-C Non-Profit Organization.
We represent soldiers from the German state of Braunschweig. Our specific impression is of one of the "hat companies" of the regiment, and in particular, we portray the Leibkompanie, which was the first company in the Regiment and typically carried the Colonel's regimental colors. Although we are commonly mistaken as Hessians, we are indeed Germans, but our regiment was formed in Brunswick, not Hesse.
Regiment von Riedesel is a member of the Northwest Territory Alliance, an umbrella organization of Revolutionary War re-enactors.
We are a group of history buffs and living historians that portray German Auxillery troops used by the British during the American Revolution.. Our members range in age from 16 to 70, and we are a family based organization.
We are a unit who takes authenticity seriously, and although we like to have fun, we always are looking for members who are interested in a serious progressive 18th century unit.
We wear hand made uniforms, made in the same design as those worn by our Regiment during the war. All our accoutrements are researched, and we make our historical correctness a priority.
Our unit has been around since the early ninetys, and if you would like more information on our unit's history, please read our page titled, "About the Regiment"
