Regiment von Riedesel, Fahnentrager
Each company of Regiment von Riedesel carried a flag, known in German as a Fahne. Our unit, the Leibkompanie caried the Leibfahne, which was the Colonel's Colors. All other kompanies carried flags of reverse colors.
Our unit has a reproduction Leibfahne of von Riedesel. The Leibfahne was typically carried by a Non-Commissioned officer, who would wear the same uniform as any other NCO, with exception to wearing the flag cover across the chest.
Carrying the flag was considered an honor, and typically the best NCO would be chosen to carry it.
This particular Fahnentrager wears the uniform of the Regiment after it had adoped the striped gaitered trousers. The Fahnentrager also always wore white leather gloves when handling the colors.
